Jackson's 5th Birthday

We had Jackson's party at a local kids' gymnastics school called Infinite Bounds. They have bounce houses, balance beams, bars, and trampolines, but the biggest hit was the trampoline runway the kids could use to fling themselves into a pit of foam blocks. Surprisingly, they spent almost all their time occupied with that, and barely even glanced at the bounce house! Even the adults enjoyed the foam pit, and Jackson's Aunt Tina and Grandpop spent most of the party relaxing in there. Jacks had a great time playing with his friends, and declared his Superman cake "delicious!" It's hard to believe he's 5!

Six Flags

Jacks and I went to Six Flags for the first time with his best friend/girlfriend, Zoe, and her mom, Mara. We had a great time! We spent a lot of time in LooneyToonLand, where all the rides are for kids. Later, we did venture out to try a few other rides, and I learned that Jacks is going to be a big fan of roller coasters. Ack! We stopped often for snacks like cotton candy and ice cream (it was a VERY healthy day), and the kiddos got airbrush tattoos. Jacks can't wait to go back!

Jackson's Drawing of Our Baby

I've been getting those emails from Babycenter every week that describe the growth the baby's gone through in the week and show a little pic of what the baby looks like now. I showed Jacks back in about week 8, I think, and every week he asks to see it now...

Here's what he drew this morning...I know it looks a little like a manatee LOL, but notice it even has a little tail (although the baby's is gone by now, Jacks knew it used to have one). The ladder-looking things are the baby's spine (not sure why there are 2 ), and he wanted to make sure I noted "the stuff the baby's eating and peeing out"...this week the update said the baby's drinking amniotic fluid and its urinary-tract system is fully functional.

Scarborough Faire

We got there right when it opened, just in time for the big cannon boom signaling the opening of the gates. Jacks immediately ran to ride the swinging pirate ship, accompanied by Mom and Anthony...who both started to feel seasick about halfway through the ride. Then, off to the facepainting tent for a black dragon on his cheek. We ate many a pretzel and turkey leg, and we even enjoyed "Ye Olde Cinnabon." (Why, when they attempt to make everything else era-appropriate, do they let Cinnabon in?) Jacks got a big kick out of throwing tomatoes at a guy calling taunts to him ("Hey shrimp!). We also rode an elephant, and he tried his hand at the joust. Cody preferred to watch his big brother try all these things and stayed in the spectators' gallery for most of it. His favorite part, I think, was when he got his very own pretzel from the pretzel vendor...but of course, he shared with Jacks. :) We had a fantastic time, and we can't wait to go again next year!
