Field Day (Catching Up...5/11/2011)

Field Day is something the kids look forward to all year. They play volleyball, soccer, launch water balloons, play with hoses, do limbo, and eat popsicles. This was Cody's first year to actually experience it, and he couldn't wait.

Here's Cody with his good friend, Julia. She's half his size (as most of the kids in his class are), but she mothers him, gives him hugs and just looks out for him. It's so cute to see them together.

This is Jackson and his buddy, Logan. They're soaking wet from the sponge relay (they pass wet sponges back and forth).

Get a load of Jackson's face during sprinkler Limbo. :)

The wind was blowing a little so the kids got a little chilly once they were wet. They decided to lie down on the pavement to warm up.

We were so worried that the day would be rained out, but it ended up being cloudy (so not too hot) and they had such a blast. Yay Field Day!

Mother's Day (Catching Up...5/8/2011)

Haircuts (Catching Up...5/6/2011)

A few weeks ago, we decided the boys were big enough to go to a "real" hair salon for their haircuts rather than a place designed for kids like Cool Cuts. So off we went to Visible Changes at the mall.

It was the first time Luke and Cody got shampoos. Cody wasn't too sure, but he put up with it and even managed a smile.

But Luke? Luke was in HEAVEN. He smiled his way through the whole thing and would have been happy to sit there the whole time and skip the haircut.

And here are the finished products! Cody Macaroni....

....and Cutie Patootie Lukey!

What handsome boys! They can't wait to go back next time!

Swingset (catching up 4/30/11)

This spring, we made an addition to our backyard....a cool, new swingset!

The boys absolutely love it, and we've been spending a lot of time out there.

We had a couple of friends over to help us break it in. Here are Jackson and Alexa:

One of their favorite features is the picnic table under the fort, which is a great place to stop for a bite to eat!

Fun!

Catching Up

Well, I've fallen behind. Way, way behind. Until today, I hadn't posted since the middle of April. Inexcusable, I know. And I was going to try to post-date the missing blog entries (because, of course, it's not like we haven't done anything in those 2 months or that I haven't taken pictures of our activities...just that I haven't posted about them) all sneaky-like, but Blogger won't let me. I had to experiment a bit with the Easter post to figure that out (which is why it's posted first and only NOW am I writing this note to explain).

So, the next 10ish posts will be from various events and fun that we had over the past few months. The last weeks of school and baseball and the full moon(s) got away from me and I just didn't get around to blogging...but I'm here now.  And my summer resolution is to update this blog at least once a week, and try to stay as up-to-date as possible. Wish me luck! :)

Easter (Catching Up...4/24/11)

We just love dyeing eggs together on Easter! Anthony is the master, with all sorts of creative ideas of mixing colors and making crazy patterns, and the boys always come up with some interesting ideas, too. No plain, solid-color eggs at our house!

Here are the boys, hard at work:

I think I caught Cody a bit by surprise here:

Witness the return of the wink!

Here are some of the masterpieces. Luke especially really enjoyed using the glitter pens.

Jackson got into the experimental side of egg dyeing with Anthony, even making a few that looked tye-dye (and that's without one of those special kits designed to make the eggs come out that way).

I think Luke ended up with more dye on his hands and arms than on the eggs, but he sure had fun.

And here's my favorite egg: the rising SON! :)

Happy Easter!
