Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! This year, my boys all wanted to be a Star Wars character. Jacks knew right away that he was going to be Darth Vader, and Cody and Luke both loved that there were characters that shared their names. So they went as Commander Cody and Luke Skywalker.

Here's Luke, trying to use the Force. Apparently, it's really hard.

But he got the hang of it eventually! The Force is strong with this one!

Then Luke realized we had a bit of time before he needed to save the Galaxy, so he decided to go for a Sunday drive. You didn't know Luke Skywalker could drive, did you?

But before too long, Darth Vader came along to try to lure Luke over to the Dark Side.

Jacks makes evil look pretty cute, doesn't he?

Darth actually decided to give the Dark Side a miss today and went for some scooting (scooter-ing?) instead.

And here is our Commander Cody.

Cody really, really liked his blaster gun.

REALLY.

So here are our Star Wars guys, all ready to go Trick or Treating.

One of our first stops was to Mrs. Stecklein's house. She taught Cody for 2 years in preschool, and we hope Luke will get to have her as well. She lives right around the corner from us and the boys just love her.

We had a great time wandering around the neighborhood, looking at all the decorations and costumes. Luke loudly explained who he was supposed to be to anyone who even looked in his direction, and he really enjoyed saying "Trucker Treat" to the people who answered the doors.

Happy Halloween!!

Feelin' Groovy

This week has been Red Ribbon Week at Cody and Jackson's school. It's a special week recognized around the country promoting drug prevention. And each day has had a different theme so the kids can dress up a little bit. For example, Monday was "Take a Stand for a Drug Free Land" and they wore red, white and blue. Tuesday was "Team Up Against Drugs" and they all wore sports team jerseys.

Today was "Peace, Love and Say No to Drugs." I know, it's a little weird. LOL But the boys were SO excited to dress up like hippies. They've been looking forward to it all week! We found these great tie-dye shirts at Walmart for $3, and Jacks picked up an "Insta-Hippy" kit at the Halloween store.

Here's Groovy Jacks...

I think he got rapper and hippie confused. LOL

But here's a peace-lovin' pose!

And Cody! He got a couple of beaded peace-sign necklaces, but he was jealous of Jackson's glasses so he dragged these out of our costume box. They're kinda Elton John-esque, circa Crocodile Rock, right? They totally work.

Peace, baby!

Hope they had a totally groovy day!

A New Twist to our Halloween Decorations

Cody has started recognizing sight words, and so we have been labeling items around the house to add to his repertoire. Well, he took matters into his own hands this week and put up a few labels of his own. :)

State Fair

One of our favorite fall activities in Dallas is hitting the State Fair. We headed over there yesterday afternoon after we picked the boys up from school.

Of course, we stopped to visit with Big Tex.

And we ate a bunch of sinful snacks, like funnel cake and dipped cheesecake.

Then we went over to the car show. Here's Cody with one of the actual Bumblebee cars used in the Transformers movie!

And here is Anthony, driving his dream car. Well, one of them anyway.

I think Luke's favorite part was the cotton candy.

The boys had a great time with all the farm vehicles.

Luke and Daddy!

It was a really fun afternoon, and we're already looking forward to next year!

Autumn at the Arboretum

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that we decided to head over to the Arboretum to check out all their Fall colors and, of course...PUMPKINS!!!

Here's a few shots of Jackson.

Luke posed for a few, too.

He wanted to see over the fence, so he used a pumpkin as a step-stool.

Cody loved posing with his brothers AND Corduroy (see previous post).

We saw these amazing houses made entirely out of pumpkins!

I took about 4 kajillion pics of all 3 of my boys together, and we actually came away with a bunch of good ones! Here are my favorites.

Cody and Luke took a break on this comfy bench.

The boys and I posed on the bridge.

Luke and Daddy (unfortunately, staring into the sun).

Me and my boys.

And here at the end, a few funny ones. Here are the boys holding up the roof of this arbor. Look at those muscles!

And finally, the best outtake of the day. I wanted to use it as our new blog header with the subtitle, "1 out of 3 is normal, and that ain't bad." LOL

Fall is here!
