Dear Spring, What Happened?

We woke up this morning to over a foot of snow on the ground! We were wearing T-shirts in 70 degree weather just a couple of days ago, and now this? Today was supposed to be the official first day of spring. What happened?

Well, the boys were just over the moon with excitement. Jacks was dressed in multiple layers with his coat on before he even said, "Good Morning." So out we went into the winter wonderland!

Here's our street:

And here's our boys!

Anthony parks his new truck outside in front of the house, so he had quite a snowdrift in the back this morning. The boys thought that was AWESOME!

The boys loved the snow, but we grown-ups were not so amused.

What a crazy end to "Spring" Break!

Dallas Blooms

This morning, we went to the Dallas Arboretum to take a look at the beautiful flowers out for Dallas Blooms. It was a gorgeous day (if a little chilly at first), and the boys had so much fun just running around.

The boys had really enjoyed the "Storybook Houses" exhibit from last spring, so they were a bit disappointed to note that all the houses were gone. However, one new Storybook character greeted visitors in full, living color: Ferdinand!

I used to make my parents read this book to me repeatedly when I was a little girl, and I just re-introduced it to the boys a few weeks ago. So it was so neat to see Ferdinand himself, "sitting just quietly, smelling the flowers."

It was a great morning, and we hope to go back again soon!

A Visit From the Tooth Fairy!

Cody lost his first tooth on March 15th, 2010! He is 5 yrs 4 mos old right now, and he got his first tooth way back when he was 4 mos old. So he's right on track to lose 'em following the timeline of when he got 'em!

He first noticed the tooth was wiggly about a week ago, and he was VERY upset. A piece of his body was falling out! That's scary! But we talked a lot about it, Jackson reassured him since he's gone through it the most recently, and we even read some fun books about the Tooth Fairy.

(His absolute favorite was "Dear Tooth Fairy," which is about a little girl who won't give up her newly lost tooth without some convincing, via notes and letters, from the Tooth Fairy. There are little envelopes inside containing actual little letters, and the final envelope even contains a real fairy coin! Cody thought that was the coolest thing.)

Cody also got very excited about having his very own Tooth Fairy pillow. We ordered it about a week ago (the day we discovered the tooth was loose...bad mommy! With Jackson, I had his pillow ready to go months before the tooth even began to wiggle.). Cody was so very excited to have his own pillow with a pattern he picked (footballs? That was a surprise...I figured he'd go for camo.) and with his very own name on it!

Here's the little tiny tooth before we put it into the pocket of the pillow to keep it safe for the Tooth Fairy. How could it be so small??

Then Cody tucked the pillow under his real pillow and went to sleep, anxious to see what the Tooth Fairy would leave him overnight.

Well, she prepared a special gold dollar and sprinkled it with fairy dust!

Yay Cody! It's hard to believe you're old enough to lose a tooth!

Zoo Fun!

2 weekends ago, we took advantage of a beautiful, sunny day and paid a visit to the Dallas Zoo.

We stopped in to the Children's Zoo where Cody and Luke had a blast on the playground.

Jacks and Luke both got REALLY close to the gorillas!

Cody was very excited when he spotted the letter "C"!

I love meerkats. They make me think of Timon from The Lion King, but more than that, I just adore the way they salute the sun. After all the snow and cold we had this winter, I can relate!

Jacks and Cody climbed all over everything...walls.

....rocks.
...the occasional cliff. Ack!

Cody and Luke sure looked snazzy in those safari outfits!

Peekaboo! (look closely....notice anyone peeking out from behind the giraffe?)

Because it made me smile! I love that someone decorated her with a flower.

My favorite memory of the day...3 boys with their Grandad. <3

And my 2nd favorite photo of the day...for several reasons. :)

We hope to go back again this week! We love the zoo!

Deep Ellum

We met our favorite photographer in Deep Ellum this weekend for some new family pictures. It was a completely different setting than any of the other family shoots we've done, and we had a lot of fun. Obviously. ;)
